Biology
During the first semester, our focus in biology begins with understanding the characteristics of life. Five major topics are studied: biochemistry, plant and animal cells, cellular respiration, and photosynthesis. Through the course of the semester, students learn how to develop an hypothesis and conduct an experiment. Evaluations are based on homework, class participation, lab work, quizzes, tests, and a cumulative final exam.

During the second semester, five major topics are studies: cell reproduction, genetics, evolution, physiology, and ecology. The year closes with a science fair in which students complete projects that incorporate what they learned throughout the year. Evaluations are based on homework, class participation, lab work, quizzes, tests, papers, and the final science project and paper.
