The Ceramics Department at BHS works toward establishing an appreciation of this ancient medium in the historical sense as well as in the context of contemporary art. Students learn the basics of constructing vessels and sculptures with different techniques like hand building with coils and slabs or making forms on the potter's wheel. Creative expression is furthered as students employ the various methods of firing available including Raku, electric, or gas. Each technique offering a different life to the individual piece of work.
