During the first semester, four major topics are studied: Functions and Models, Transformations, Circular Functions and Trigonometric Functions. The UCSMP text, Functions, Statistics, and Trigonometry, does a wonderful job of weaving previously studied topics into the presentation of new material, giving the students both a deeper understanding of the new concepts and providing an integrated review of previous topics.

During the second semester, four major topics are studied: Power and Logarithm Functions, Probability, Sequences and Series, and Matrices.

Students review homework, work problems and are introduced to new topics in class. Students’ progress is assessed using homework, quizzes, class participation and tests including a final exam.
